Khalaf ‘An Hamzah

"Khalaf ʿan Ḥamzah refers to one of the canonical riwāyāt (transmissions) of Qurʾānic recitation. It reflects the qirāʾah of Ḥamzah al-Kūfī (d. 156 AH / 772 CE) as transmitted through Khalaf ibn Hishām al-Bazzār (d. 229 AH / 843 CE). Within the tradition of the Ten Qirāʾāt, this riwāyah is recognized as an authentic mode, preserved through precise isnād (chain of transmission) and rooted in the Kūfan recitational school.
